On May 7th, look for our table and staff (as well as our guests of honor!) at the annual AWLA-sponsored Walk for the Animals.
Rosslyn Cinema
Come out to Gateway Park with your family & pet for Pet Preparedness Festival starting at 5pm, and then stick around to watch Beethoven 2 under the stars! Learn tips to make sure your pet is prepared for an emergency! Enjoy story time by Arlington Public Library, face painting, balloon animals, climbing wall, music, beer & wine at the Mobile Bar, and a snack at the Chix N Stix Food Truck. Going Home Prepared
The first 100 families who adopt a dog or cat at AWLA get a special take-home treat (A “Little Golden Book” with Pet Prep tips) in their adoption materials to ensure that their new family member is prepared for any emergency.

Book Club
In February, join us in reading and discussing “Pawprints of Katrina: Pets Saved and Lessons Learned.” We’ll be having a book club discussion on February 24 at Central Library! Pet preparedness starter kits will be available to the first 25 attendees!
Resolve to Get Ready!
This January, resolve to:
1) Get your dog licensed.
2) Get all of your pets microchipped
3) Ensure your pets have up-to-date rabies vaccinations.
Toys for Kits
Did you know dogs need toys in their emergency preparedness kits to keep them busy and less stressed? Join us and NOVA Dogs in making hand made toys in February and March! Proceeds benefit AWLA.
Watering Holes
We’ve partnered with neighborhood restaurants in Shirlington and Clarendon to make sure your furry friends stay hydrated in style. Full list of restaurants available in March!
Canine Ambassadors
Our volunteers will be walking dogs on local trails and at local dog parks. In April, look for our pups in vests and ask us your preparedness questions!
